I believe this movie teaches us to not be too trusting to someone you just met. Mr.White betrays Joe, a friend he's known for years, for Mr.Orange who happens to be an undercover cop. Also, I only reason Mr. Pink lives is because he tried to avoid confrontation, so I'm going to say this movie also tells us that if you are smart and avoid violence you'll live.
It seems to me this film is about all the bad things that come from violence. It displays the ignorance and pointlessness of violence. As each character is profiled one is more violent then the next. Until a built up culmination scene where each of them points their gun at each other. Mr. Pink, the one who chooses not to be involved in the "ludicrousness" of the masses" aka no tipping. Walks away with the case.
