  The only thing I got from this one was this. All of our choices affect someone else. Sometimes we don't even realize to what effect the most simple of acts will impact someone and set off a chain of events.

  I think all of the main characters in the movie are at a point in their life where they feel that they are not progressing (i.e. they are just moving sideways, not forward). They all may have goals, but for various reasons they are not yet coming to fruition. The grapes symbolize developing into something greater.
