This film looks at life after death from three different angles. There are three characters:
George knows what happens to people after death as he can experience it constantly when doing readings. Being such a psychic, he can't fully engage with the world because each time he touches someone, he also has to interact with the dead in these people's life, e.g. the girl Melanie, while he really likes her, after touching her he gets messages from her dead parents, especially the dad, who must have molested her in the past. Obviously, this is very upsetting for Melanie. While they liked each other, it is a strong barrier for them to continue to have a relationship. Melanie leaves.
Marie has had a death experience while "dying" during the tsunami but has come back. She wants to know more and is now looking for proof, that what she experienced wasn't just hallucinations.
Marcus lost his brother so he is desperate to find answers what happens after death. The film shows their struggle to find answers for their situations...until they meet by coincidence in London. George can help Marcus to come to peace with his brother's death and to move forward. Marie finds in George the person who fully understands what she is talking about and George, well he finds in Marie the only person, who he can interact (eg touch) who does not have "dead" people in her live, because the moment Marie "died" in the Tsunami she kind of started new, fresh, without all the "dead" people "hovering" around her. So George and Marie can start new with each other.
